Its an amazing waste when you look at it like that

  • Malcolm Humphreys says:

Whilst I appreciate what you are trying to do – it must be remembered that not everyone has a computer – also most used ‘phone books are recycled

  • Ian Godfrey says:

This is a very self seeking campaign for you guys – lets face it, you have a very big interest in ensuring that phone books bite the dust – the day you, 192.com offer unlimited free searches will be the day I sign a petition like this – I don’t think that day will come.
The ‘green’ bandwagon is a very self seeking thing. Does anybody really believe that the reason the banks offer ‘green’ e-statements is that they care about the environment? It will be interesting to see if my comment is actually published!

You got it spot on they do have an interest…it is called making money. Having said that, I will support the opt out lobby as online phone books are the way ahead, so why can`t phone books be put online with no charge for searches, I reckon the printing costs saved would cover that. non computer users could still have their free phone book.

  • Katie Gardner says:

192.com does offer free directory enquiry searches!

Please also note that this campaign is about giving people the choice. If you want a phonebook, you should have the choice to opt-in to receive one. If you don’t use printed phonebooks, then you should have the choice not to have them dumped on your doorstep. Its seems an environmental and economic waste to produce phonebooks for those people that dont use them.

Hey hang on what about all the thousands of people who are not pc friendly, the ones who dont own a pc and dont know how to use one?????

Dont forget they also charge a lot for directory enquiries now…

People who dont want one should opt out – easy
